At Codesome, we believe in fostering a vibrant community where creators can share their work and users can discover amazing digital content. To support this, we allow sellers to list items for free. This Free Item Policy outlines the rules and guidelines for both offering and downloading free items on our platform.
By listing or downloading a free item, you agree to abide by this policy.
A "Free Item" on Codesome is any digital product (e.g., a template, graphic, font, plugin, ebook, asset) that is listed with a price of $0.00. The seller does not receive any financial payment from Codesome or the buyer for the download of this item.
Eligibility
You must be a registered member in good standing with [Marketplace Name].
The item must be your original work or you must have the necessary rights to distribute it for free.
The item must comply with our broader [Terms of Service](link to terms) and [Upload Guidelines](link to guidelines).
Free items are not exempt from our quality requirements. They must:
Be functional, complete, and deliver what is promised in the description.
Not be merely a promotional sample or "teaser" for a paid product (e.g., a single icon from a paid pack). However, Free Versions or Lite Plans of paid products are allowed if they provide genuine value on their own.
Not contain any malicious code, viruses, or hidden payloads.
You must select a clear license for your free item. You can use a standard license (like GPL, MIT, Creative Commons) or your own custom terms.
You must clearly state the license terms in your item's description. If no license is specified, users assume they have no right to use the item.
Common licenses for free items include:
Personal Use Only: The item cannot be used for commercial purposes.
MIT License: Very permissive, allowing commercial use, modification, and distribution.
CC0: You waive all rights to the work worldwide under copyright law, making it public domain.
Attribution Required: Users must credit you as the original creator.
You may not use free items to:
Collect Data: Phish for user emails, passwords, or other personal information without explicit, prior consent and a clear privacy policy.
Redirect Users: Include links or code that automatically redirects users to external websites, stores, or promotions.
Advertise Paid Items Excessively: While a discreet link to your portfolio or storefront in the item's documentation is acceptable, the primary content of the download must be the free item itself, not an advertisement.
Circumvent Fees: List an item as "free" but include instructions requiring a mandatory payment on an external site to function. This is considered fee circumvention and is strictly prohibited.
When you download a free item, you are acquiring a license to use that item according to the specific license terms provided by the seller in the item description. It is your responsibility to read and understand these terms before using the item.
Free items are provided "as is" without any warranty, either express or implied. [Marketplace Name] and the seller are not responsible for any outcomes resulting from the use of a free item. You assume all risk for its use.
Sellers are not obligated to provide technical support or updates for free items. Any support provided is at the seller's sole discretion.
Listing an item for free does not mean the seller gives up their copyright. The seller remains the intellectual property owner of the item. You must respect the license terms and cannot claim the work as your own.
Sellers may change a free item to a paid item at any time. Users who downloaded the item when it was free may continue to use it under the original license terms but will not receive automatic updates unless specified by the seller.
We take violations of this policy seriously. If a free item is found to be in breach:
It will be immediately removed from the marketplace.
The seller's account may be suspended or terminated.
Users who downloaded the item may be notified of the removal.
If you encounter a free item that violates this policy, our Terms of Service, or infringes on your intellectual property rights, please report it immediately using our Report Abuse form.
If you have any questions about this Free Item Policy, please contact our support team at codesome.net@gmail.com.
